So with a week to go until All Types the machine comes out to play! I wanted to get rid of a few paint imperfections; Some swirls and the odd scratch here and there needed taking out. So here goes:
The products used;
- Zymol auto wash (2 bucket method with lambswool mitt and waffle's to dry with 1/4 demon shine 3/4 water as a rinse aid)
- Fine clay with Dodo Juice Born Slippy as lube
- Kestrel DAS-6 PRO
- Menzerna 5” polishing pad with Menzerna Power Finish PO 203S
- Menzerna 5” finishing pad with Menzerna Final Finish PO 85 RE 5
- Menzerna Dual Action Flexplate
- Poorboy’s black hole
- Auto Glym EGP
- Auto Glym HD wax
- Meguiars NXT quick detailer
- Bilberry wheel cleaner
- Auto Glym alloy wheel seal
- Meguiars endurance tyre gel
So I got to work this morning to the neighbours delight i'm sure. First off washed the car using the 2 bucket method, clayed doing small sections on each panel at a time, washed again, dried, then got the kestrel out. The paintwork wasn't in that bad of a condition considering it's my only car and the harsh winter that we had. It was washed frequently throughout the winter but as you'd expect the paint did have several small tar spots on the lower sections of some panels and there were more swirls showing and the occasional scratch. As I didn't want to be too abrasive with the cut I used a polishing pad and power finish to get through the imperfections. I must apologise now as I didn't take that many photo's as it looked as though it was going to urinate down all morning and I wanted to get as much done as poss.
This photo shows the paint after being washed and masked up ready to be polished. Apologies that there are no close ups of the swirls but believe me they are there.
This one is just after being polished with the power finish then the final finish.
Here are the two panels side by side. The one on the left is so far untreated. Im sure you'll agree there is far better clarity and gloss in the treated panel. On closer inspection the flake in the paint has also came out more.

The biggest noticeable difference was on the bonnet. The paint had definitely faded over time but has now been brought back to life. I'll get some further snaps for you guys if I take the car out over the weekend.
